In search of the perfect fit
The secret for us lies in the happy medium. We are in a constant search for harmony between ancient artisanal knowledge and continuous technological innovation.
Discover our story
1964
Our first workshop was opened in Piazzola sul Brenta (Padua) by our founder, Mr. Aldo Nicoletto. He sought to meet the needs of the era for “ready-made garments” without abandoning high-end tailoring. To this end, he gathered the finest master craftsmen to offer ready-to-wear pieces that uphold the standards of tailoring tradition.
1972
For the first time, the Belvest collection was presented at Pitti Uomo in Florence, an important showcase to make our idea of style known and appreciated beyond Italy. Already in this decade, Belvest garments began to arrive in the heart of the most beautiful European cities, especially in Great Britain, Germany, France and Switzerland; followed by Japan, the United States and Canada.
1978
The made-to-measure service was born, designed for those who, like us, are not satisfied with choosing between functionality and elegance, but desire the freedom to wear a garment entirely tailored to their own needs. During these years, we brought to life two other important innovations that would become cornerstones of our idea of a style free from constraints: the deconstructed jacket and a new hopsack fabric, lightweight and completely original compared to classic tailoring constructions.
1998
The quality and originality of our deconstructed jacket are officially recognized with the registration of the trademark “JACKETINTHEBOX©”. The concept of an unlined and unstructured garment, designed to be lightweight and always impeccable, is in the following years also adapted to suits, coats and duster coats. It becomes emblematic of our ability to harmonise tailoring style with avant-garde aesthetic research.
2014
To celebrate our first 50 years of history, we revisited a jacket model from our archive originally made in 1964, reinterpreting it in a modern version that respects artisanal tradition while embracing an innovative concept. To make this garment even more exclusive, we created a special label bearing the words Belvest 50: in addition to commemorating the anniversary, it indicates the code number of the original model.
Today
While remaining faithful to traditional tailoring, our ongoing avant-garde research leads us to discover unprecedented solutions every day to meet the needs of the modern man, with innovative materials such as antibacterial-antiviral fabric, or through the study of garments with engineered shapes.
